Keepsakes seminars in Germany

For a change: a blogpost in english… Last week Philipp Landerer of Keepsakes organised an event in the beautiful Aqua Aurelia hotel in Baden Baden, Germany, where he invited Damien Lovegrove, Marco Nurminen and me to speak. It was my first foreign speaking experience and although it was in Germany, I did the talks in english. My knowledge of English is somewhat better than my German (especially the technical bit).

On monday Damien and I both did talks on lighting: using available, flash and continuous light. Marco did a seminar about Lightroom. On tuesday and wednesday we worked with small groups, shooting in and around the beautiful hotel. In the evening Damien did a talk on the book project he did with model Chloe Jasmine Whichello and I did a talk called “What’s not in your camerabag” about things, besides your photogear, that are important to you as a photographer.

On my shooting days it was all about balancing available light and flash. Here are a few shots I took of our lovely models Susanne and Sylvie . We managed to get some totally different lighting moods in the same room:

Ofcourse we played around with color a bit:

Photographer Felix Peter from Switzerland took some nice backstage photos on the first shooting day. Like this great “teaching” pose ;-). He also put some photos on his blog.

It was a fantastic experience, meeting all these great people and working with a nice, funny, creative and inspiring guy as Damien! Thanks everyone for this great couple of days!
